Enter a metaphorical universe in which all sense of time is lost, where characters evoke a surreal and swirling dreamlike state. Blurring the line between the real and the imaginary, Reverie invites audiences into a ‘fantasy-like’ world in which they might recognise their own emotions, phobias and behaviours.
Reverie explores how memories and the past shape our collective narrative. Drawing inspiration from the use of archetypes in Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland and Carl Jung’s theories on the subconscious, the work creates connections between the known and the unfamiliar to demonstrate how interchangeable these states can be.
Fusing movement and visual arts, choreographers Georgia Tegou and Michalis Theophanous transport audiences into captivating visual environments in their ‘dance-as-design’ creations. Tegou recently created Ochre for ZfinMalta – National Dance Company Malta and the sold-out family production Underwater with Xenia Aidonopoulou at Sadler’s Wells. Movement Artist Theophanous has collaborated with numerous artists and companies including Greek theatre director and choreographer Dimitris Papaioannou and most recently performed in the Olivier Award nominated Transverse Orientation, as part of Dance Umbrella 2021.

Georgia Tegou’s choreographic work has been presented and supported by Arts Council England, Dance Umbrella, The Venice Biennale of Architecture, Onassis Stegi, Sadler’s Wells, The Place, ZfinMalta National Dance Company, Studio Wayne McGregor, Royal Academy of Music, The Whitechapel Gallery, Athens and Epidaurus Festival amongst others.
She has choreographed two music videos for Róisín Murphy. Tegou was awarded a OneDanceUK Choreographers Observership and worked with Royal Opera House movement director and choreographer, Kate Flatt. In 2021 she was invited to exhibit a performative installation at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition / La Biennale di Venezia hosted by the Cyprus Pavilion co-directed with Michalis Theophanous. She was a Choreodrome 2021 artist at The Place, a Studio Light Moves / Open Futures resident artist at Dance Limerick and she is currently an artist in residence at Somerset House Exchange.
Michalis Theophanous

Michalis Theophanous is a movement artist. He has a longstanding collaboration with the Greek choreographer Dimitris Papaioannou, appearing in Inside (2011), Primal Matter (2013 – a duet with Papaioannou), Still Life (2014) and Transverse Orientation (2021). In recent years, he has also collaborated closely with the American theatre director Robert Wilson, starring with Lucinda Childs in his Adam’s Passion (2015 – music by Arvo Pärt), and Oedipus Rex (2018).
As a performer, Theophanous has worked with numerous choreographers, companies and organisations, including the Hellenic Dance Company (GR), Carte Blanche (NO), Konstantinos Rigos (GR), the National Theatre of Greece, and the Theatre Organisation of Cyprus (THOC). His own choreographic work has been seen at Dance Umbrella, the Festival of Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, Onassis Stegi in Athens, the Napoli Teatro Festival and elsewhere, with support from the Arts Council England, Change Performing Arts, the University of Roehampton, London amongst others.

Parking for bicycles, cars and motorcycles
There are bicycle racks outside The Place’s Flaxman Terrace entrance.
There are metered parking spaces in the roads around The Place (free after 6.30pm weekdays, 1.30pm Saturdays and on Sundays) and dedicated spaces for Blue Badge holders outside each entrance.
There is motorcycle parking on Duke’s Road.
Nearby car parks include Euston Station (Melton Street, off Euston Road, NW1 2EP) and St Pancras Station (Pancras Road NW1 2TB).
Access information
Access facilities in the theatre
Entry to the theatre is from the Duke’s Road entrance. In standard set up, the theatre has a range of seating options including four wheelchair spaces which are all are accessible via the lift. They also have step-free access both upstairs and at stage level. The theatre has a Sennheiser induction loop system with pre bookable head sets. These amplify the sound through ear pieces with volume control or neck bands, which transfer the amplified signal to your hearing aid when switched to the T position. If you have any other accessible seating requests please speak to a member of box office staff who will be able to advise you. You can also request a large print programme.
Seating: In the theatre, all seats have non-removeable armrests. The space between armrests is 43cm wide. Seat depth at its deepest is 46cm. At the narrowest point, legroom is 22cm, with better legroom on Row A and on aisle seats. We have four removeable access spaces for wheelchair users.
Assistant Dogs
Your assistant dog is welcome to join you in the auditorium; The Place will always let you know if they expect sounds or special effects that may cause your dog discomfort. If there are effects that may upset you dog or if they are not so keen on watching dance they may be left with staff in a quiet office.
Mobility Scooters
You are welcome to leave your scooter in the box office area for the duration of your visit as the lifts and wheelchair seating areas are not suitable for these vehicles.
Booking Tickets
Tickets can be booked in person, telephone (The Place are happy to receive and make calls via the text relay service) and through the website.
Wheelchair users can book themselves and a free companion in for performances by adding the promo code ACCESS to the bottom of the seating plan page and then selecting the wheelchair patron space and companion space marked with wheelchair and star icons.
