The Ends merges dance and city into a hypnotic dialogue between bodies and brutalist architecture. Filmed on the social housing estates of Westbury, Lambeth, the work sets contemporary movement against stark post-war concrete, contemplating how human and urban landscapes collide, co-exist and shape one another.

The title comes from urbanist Nabil Al-Kinani’s use of the term ‘the Ends’ – Afro-Caribbean slang for neighbourhood or home – to describe estates now under threat of gentrification and demolition. With over 23,000 social-rented homes lost in the past decade, the film resonates as both celebration and elegy, reflecting on community, resilience and erasure.

Screened internationally, The Ends is a striking meditation on place, belonging and the fragile future of London’s social housing.
