Vibrantly filling and spilling out of Fairfield Halls’ redeveloped spaces, our weekend Takeover brings a mix of international dance, pop-up events, performance-parkour, homegrown talent, workshops and mayhem to the heart of Croydon.
Catch the vaults, spins and falls of The Urban Playground Team, whose authentic fusion of free running and streetwise dance fuels their physically exuberant, outdoor performances. Families will be enthralled by the fantasy spectacle of Hocus Pocus, a gem of a show from Switzerland. Dance Festival Croydon showcases and celebrates the diversity of contemporary dance.
In the evenings, new work comes from captivating LA-based Mythili Prakash, chosen by Akram Khan as his ‘choreographer of the future’ for DU’s Four by Four Commissions, while superstar hip-hop company Boy Blue unveils its latest big-scale production REDD, bringing the house down for the final Takeover performance.
