Nioun Rec by Amala Dianor Company is a captivating film blending urban, contemporary and African dance styles amidst a striking architectural setting. Part of Dianor’s Ciné-Danse series, this film was created in 2021 and marked the start of a creative partnership with visual artist Grégoire Korganow.
Transposing his earlier solo Man Rec (‘Only me’ in Niger-Congo language Wolof) into Nioun Rec (‘Only us’), Dianor invited dancer Nangaline Gomis to perform a duet that explores connection, identity and shared movement. The choreography fuses fluid physicality with cinematic artistry, creating an intimate and visually compelling experience.
Filmed in the iconic Villa Savoye – famous architect Le Corbusier’s modernist masterpiece just outside Paris, Nioun Rec brings dance into dialogue with architecture and film in a powerful expression of collaboration and artistic evolution.

Amala Dianor, a self-taught hip hop dancer, trained at the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine d’Angers, graduating in 2002. For a decade, he performed across various styles before founding his company in 2012 after winning two prizes at the 2011 Reconnaissance competition for his debut choreography, Crossroad.
Known for his elegant and fluid style, Dianor blends different movement techniques, stripping them of spectacle to focus on raw expression. His work fosters dialogue between art forms, collaborating with musicians, visual artists, actors and writers. Since 2014, he has worked closely with electro-soul composer Awir Leon.
In 2021, he co-created CinéDanse, a collection of short dance films, and in 2022, he was selected by the Big Pulse Dance Alliance. That year, he also presented Siguifin, showcasing West African artists, and choreographed for South Africa’s Via Katlehong. His 2023 works include Love You, Drink Water, a filmed dance concert, and DUB, a large-scale piece for 11 dancers.
With 21 works and six short films in his repertoire, his company tours internationally. Honoured with the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 2019 and promoted to Officer in 2024, Dianor remains a prolific force in contemporary dance.

Grégoire Korganow is a French photographer and filmmaker whose work spans over three decades, rooted in documentary practice but constantly expanding into performance, installation and moving image. A graduate of the École Estienne in Paris, he began his career in 1991 as a photojournalist for publications such as Libération, The New York Times and National Geographic.
Korganow’s photography delves into themes of human vulnerability, identity and the unseen. From 2010 to 2013, he undertook an unprecedented photographic study of French prisons while serving as an Inspector of Places of Deprivation of Liberty. This led to the acclaimed Prisons series (2015). His deeply personal project Père et Fils explored masculinity and inheritance, and included intimate portraits of his own family.
His fascination with bodies and movement led him to photograph dancers post-performance (Sortie de scène, 2014) and to create experimental dance films such as Nioun Rec. His work has been exhibited widely, from the Maison Européenne de la Photographie to the Avignon Festival.
Korganow’s process is immersive, poetic, and collaborative, driven by a commitment to portraying the invisible. He teaches regularly in France and abroad, and continues to produce work that bridges reality and fiction, presence and absence.
