Ever wondered how a dance performance is created?
For the next episode of Choreographer’s Cut, filmed as part of #DUFest22, we were joined by movement/theatre artist Wendy Houstoun.
Since 1980, Wendy has worked extensively as a solo performer, and in collaboration with companies and artists including DV8 Physical Theatre, Tim Etchells and Forced Entertainment. Over the years, her work has developed a uniquely distinctive style that combines movement with text, and meaning with humour.

In this episode, Wendy Houstoun sits down with Dance Umbrella Artistic Director & CEO Freddie Opoku-Addaie, to talk about how she made her solo work Haunted, part of the performance trilogy Haunted, Daunted, Flaunted, which came to Dance Umbrella Festival in 1997 at The Place.
Haunted is an evocation of the past, a purging of old hurts and petty grudges, ancient lovers and criminal acts.
Since 2020, Dance Umbrella has had the privilege of speaking to numerous world class choreographers to gain a truly unique insight into their artistic practice and how they created particular dance works.
