The One Dance UK Awards are an annual celebration for people from across the dance sector to unite, celebrate, acknowledge and reward the people who have made an impact on the vibrant UK dance landscape.

Having been made OBE earlier this year in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, our former Artistic Director & Chief Executive (2013-2021) Emma Gladstone has now been nominated for One Dance UK’s Dance Programming Award. The celebrations continue because DU Artist Jay Jay Revlon has also been acknowledged for his outstanding work, nominated for the Dance in the Community Award.

Before stepping down from the role in March 2021, in Emma’s eight-years at Dance Umbrella she curated seven dance festivals, presenting over 80 artists and companies from across the world. Her programming has reached 17 London Boroughs, visiting over 50 different locations across the capital.

Jay Jay was first presented at our 2019 Festival, painting the town pink with his Big Pink Vogue Ball at Shoreditch Town Hall, a joyful celebration of the Voguing community. Jay Jay then emphatically closed our 2020 Digital Festival with Friday Night Dance Party X Let’s Have A Kiki, a virtual version of his ‘community-centred club night’.

The shortlist was selected by an expert panel of judges from over a thousand public nominations, that featured dance artists, teachers, practitioners, educators, schools, choreographers, companies, venues, scientists, marketers and producers.

This year’s ceremony will take place digitally on Friday 19 November.

Congratulations to all the nominees!
