120 young dancers will explode on to the Royal Albert Hall stage in Overture 2012. This Dance Umbrella commission is a monumental production set to one of the world's greatest symphonies, Shostakovich's 10th, played live by one of the world's greatest orchestras, the London Symphony Orchestra.
Over an intense five-week rehearsal period, internationally renowned choreographer Royston Maldoom OBE transforms 120 young people from across London into a cohesive, disciplined, professional dance company.
In the year that the Olympic flag passes from Beijing to London, Overture 2012 will make a major statement about the impact dance can have on the lives of young people. An expression of youthfulness and humanity through dance and music, Overture 2012 will be one of the cultural highlights of 2008.
Overture 2012 is our most ambitious project to date and there are still opportunities to support the young dancers in this project. Click here to support this project (opens pdf file).
