Emma Gladstone – Artistic Director & Chief ExecutiveSince being appointed in 2013, Emma has commissioned hip hop, ice skating and folk dance, as well as contemporary dance, as part of her desire to broaden definitions of contemporary choreography. Recent initiatives include a Commission Fund, Re-Search programme and a regular strand of work for children and young people.
Previously she had worked at Sadler’s Wells for eight years as Artistic Programmer & Producer, where she created development programmes for artists such as Jerwood Studio at Sadler's Wells, and Summer University with choreographer Jonathan Burrows.
Before her producing career, she danced for 20 years with numerous choreographers including Lea Anderson (The Cholmondeleys) and Arlene Phillips. She also co-founded Adventures in Motion Pictures (now New Adventures) with Matthew Bourne.
Emma is a Trustee for independent film maker Rachel Davies, on the Advisory panel for the Family Arts Campaign, and a mentor for Dance UK and the Leverhulme Trust. In 2014 Emma was awarded an Honorary Fellowship from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London.
Anu Giri – Executive Director
Currently she is Executive Director at Dance Umbrella, London’s leading international contemporary dance festival and is responsible for finance and business development. Previously she was Co-Director of English National Ballet School where she developed the ‘My First’ series of children’s ballets in partnership with English National Ballet and set up ENBS Juniors - high quality children’s ballet classes across 3 London boroughs.
Prior to this Anu spent 10 years at Arts Council England and was Head of Dance from 2003 - 2010. Before this she was General Manager at Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company, Education Administrator at Birmingham Royal Ballet; managed small-scale dance companies Chitraleka and Company and Claire Russ Ensemble and was Projects Administrator at Dance 4, National Dance Agency.
Anu also works in a freelance capacity supporting dance artists and organisations with business development and fundraising. Clients have included: Wayne McGregor|Random Dance, Independent Dance, Dance UK, ZooNation Dance Company, ATMA Dance and New Movement Collective.
Anu co-presented Network East for BBC2, trained in Indian Classical Dance and has a BA in Drama and a Diploma in Management and currently serves on the Boards of Rambert, Scottish Ballet and One Dance UK.
